The Wong

The Wong

The Wong is the home of Horncastle Town Football Club.

All senior and junior teams play on The Wong or the surrounding areas. Many of the junior teams play on the Oaks Meadow, which can be accessed through the gates next to the clubhouse. The main building on the site is our brand new clubhouse which was opened in August 2014 and consists of a clubroom and four changing rooms. The main pitch is surrounded by railings and advertising boards, with two dugouts for the home and away side. There is a small covered viewing area for our supporters. The pitch is also floodlit.

The Wong is a Scandanavian term for pasture or common land and used to be owned by the Manor of Horncastle until it was given to the people by Edward Stanhope MP. Until the late 90's there were still sheep and cattle pens that were used in the beast fairs.

The Wong is located on the south side of town, near Cagthorpe.
