A crowd in excess of 300 turn out to watch the hotly contested memorial match end in a two-nil win for the visitors to the Wong.
After a very even first half which Town probably just edged it was Boston United who were in front. Some hesitancy from the Town defenders and keeper allowed United striker Lee Orrey to tap into the empty net. Towns best chance of the half fell to Carl Smith who found himself in space 20 yards from goal but he couldn’t keep his shot down and so didn’t trouble the United keeper.
The second period was much like the first with chances at a minimum but with 5 minutes to go the game as a contest was over as Keith Jones in the Town goal came rushing out his mis-kick went straight to Orrey’s feet and he did the rest by firing into the empty net.
After a below average second half showing Town maybe didn’t deserve anything from the game but a strong first half will give Town lots of positives to take before their first league game against Skegness United a week on Tuesday.
The club would like to thank Balcan Lighting Supplies for kindly being the match ball sponsor for the game.
