A solid Town performance saw them win this friendly by the odd goal against a strong, well drilled North Somercotes team managed by former Town player Andy Howsam.
Town were creating opportunities all through the first half but failed to work the visiting keeper. Steve Lovett, Tony Edwards and Carl Smith were all guilty of missing the target.
North Somercotes started the second half brighter as Town stuggled to keep hold of the ball and Andy Willoughby was a constant threat to the Town defence. The winning goal came with ten minutes to play. Carl Smiths deep ball into the the box was bundled into the net by skipper Chris Johnson.
Town played some good football especially in the first half and a good workout was what was needed with only two weeks before the start of their Lincs league campaign.
