Horncastle Town FC Development Team Completes Their First Double

Horncastle Town FC Development Team complete their first double, becoming The Sills & Betteridge Solicitors Division Three league winners and also becoming the holders of The Jock Mitchell Memorial Trophy.

Towns Development Team fought off stiff competition from Bardney FC in both the League and Trophy campaigns.

In the league Town lost their first 3 matches of the season but finally found their game with a 5-2 victory over Lincoln High Street FC. December and January saw Town unbeaten in the league. Lost 1, won 1 then drew 1 in February. In March, Town were unbeaten again, April came and out of 5 matches, the Development Team only dropped 2 points which crowned them League Division Three Champions.

The Jock Mitchell Memorial Trophy kicked off on the 25th October 2015 with Town beating Woodhall Spa FC 3-1 at home in the first round. The Development Team also found themselves at home in the 2nd round of The Jock Mitchell Memorial Trophy against Shakespeare BBH FC and progressed to round 3 with a 6-3 win. In the third round, Town were on their travels and against Sleaford Seahawks FC who proved tough opposition for Horncastle, This took Town to a penalty shoot out after drawing 3-3 in normal and extra time. Town came out the victors, winning 5-3 on penalties. The Semi Final was at home to Wragby FC. Town won 3-1 to take them to the Final held at Sincil Bank, home of Lincoln City Football Club. The Final was against Bardney FC who were always hot on Towns tail in both the league and The Jock Mitchell Memorial Trophy but ultimately came out as runners up in the league behind Horncastle. The final saw a goal in both halves by Town and lifting the Memorial Trophy in a 2-0 win over Bardney.

A massive congratulations goes out to the players involved in the Horncastle Town Development Team and also to the Manager Mark Simmons and Assistant Manager Alan Wilkinson.
