A bumper crowd on The Wong saw an impressive Boston Utd side outclass Town to win the John Rawdon Memorial Trophy scoring 7 goals without reply.

Horncastle Town 0 - 7 Boston United (Thomas 3, Newsham 2, McGhee, Garner)

Attendance: 253

Conference regulars Danny Thomas (3) and Marc Newsham (2) led the goal scorers with club captain Scott Garner and Danny McGhee also netting for the pilgrims.

Town held Boston to just a 2-0 goal margin up until the break but the visitors skill and fitness levels proved too much for Town who conceded 5 in the second half.

It wasn't all bad for Town however, who will be disappointed not to have scored themselves. Michael Harness' driven shot was well saved on the half hour mark, while Carl Smith should have done better after finding himself with just the 'keeper to beat after the half way stage.

The club would like to thank everyone for their attendance and particularly to Boston United for bringing a team to The Wong during their busy schedule.

Next up for Town is a return to Lincolnshire League action as Market Rasen visit The Wong. (3:00pm kick off)

Team: Stamford (Burchnall), Shinn, Brown, Lowman (Marshall), Rawdon (Low), Melia,, Lovett, Jackson, Smith, Edwards (Blondel), Harness (Stones).
