Following 8 seasons managing our first team, the duo of Paul and Dale Johnson have decided to step down at the end of this season. Having built a strong side and pushing so close for the title last season, both have decided it is now time to hand over the reins. As a result, we can announce that current senior players Andrew Shinn and Michael Stones have been appointed as the first team management pair for next season. Michael is awaiting knee surgery and will not have a playing role next season and Andrew is as yet undecided on playing. They will be assisted on the coaching side by fellow current senior players, Nathan Rawdon and Steve Lovett, which makes for a strong team. The club feel this is an excellent appointment, bringing forward two ‘club’ men with a wealth of playing experience. Their knowledge of the club and level of involvement, in our view, makes this a great fit, with both embracing the club ethos of bringing through and developing our own young players, who will benefit from their playing experience.

Equally, the club are delighted that both Paul and Dale will remain as Directors of the club and continue their other essential background roles. Paul will remain as our Welfare Officer and look after our Charter Standard, as well as being on hand to assist the new management whenever needed. Dale will continue all his unseen hard work, as Fixture Secretary, assisting the management with team administration and providing his invaluable general all round support.

The club are obviously hugely grateful to Paul and Dale for all their hard work in their management roles, particularly over so many seasons. We are pleased to have the new management in place now, to bring certainty to the future and allow the smooth transition from this season to next. We look forward to the fresh impetus Andrew and Michael will bring.
